Luke Weil gives readers an up-close look at the strategies he has used to generate such immense success as a blogger. After starting off with just a small blog and no clear monetization strategy, Weil's blog became such a sensation that he was able to make a career out of the platform he created merely as a hobby. Even though his initial success came almost entirely by accident, Weil has since created a host of other wildly successful blogs while consulting countless others on how to generate significant streams of revenue through blogging.
As the title suggests, this book is a financial guide for small business. It is an easy to read, straight to the point book based on forty years of accounting and finance experience by the author. It covers key areas of financial success for a small business such as: creating a purchasing manual, controlling and promoting labor efficiency, weekly profit and loss reporting, controlling utility costs, setting operating targets and influencing revenue growth. While this book targets small businesses already in existence, there is a bonus section on creating a business plan. In addition to the book, the reader gains access to fully developed and easy to alter templates created in either Microsoft Word or Excel for creating a Purchasing Manual along with commonly used forms to compliment the purchasing function. Two of these forms help with the complicated decision process concerning whether to invest in Property, Plant and Equipment or Major Repairs. There are other templates that may help in implementing a Weekly P&L Report. Also, available is a fully developed Business Plan that should help in the creation of this start-up document along with functional financial statements and functional supporting schedules. The book gives the reader a wealth of information and provokes some thought processes critical to financial success. It could be a financially rewarding tool for little investment.
Poetry. "Lynne Thompson's START WITH A SMALL GUITAR is a dazzling collection of love poems, wickedly wise and stitched with the darkest nuances of desire. These poems are rich in childhood play and the adult pleasures of consolation, yet even at their most reflective and speculative these poems are fleshed by the carnal. This new collection is either a handbook to bliss or the abyss, and she insists that the reader-each one of us-decide."-David St. John

"Adventures on Small Islands: A Fresh Look at Greece" was intended as both and adventure story undertaken by two "old" ladies, and a story about a way of life that is vanishing, as these ten small Greek islands get caught up in the march of "progress" and thus lose the vary quality that once made them unique. The trips were undertaken over a six-year period and involved travelling "rough" - i.e. with just a rucksack; no mode of travel other than hiking, hitch-hiking, or an occasional bus; staying in village homes and trying to get to know as many loval people as possible in the weeks spent living on these islands. The islands were chosen because they are small and because neither Rhea nor Haris had previously visited them, thus no memories from the past would impinge on the "fresh look." They are not the big tourist islands that have changed Greek life in a way that many people do not like. Unfortunately, even these small islands are in the process of being "discovered" and are already changing in the past few years. So this adventure story becomes part of past history. The text of the book is taken from Haris' diaries, many pages of notes every day, and the illustrations are Rhea's. We had a lot of good times and memorable experiences on these small Greek islands, and we hope people both enjoy reading about them and get a flavour of the lives lived there. And maybe even grab a rucksack and head off to Greece to visit them!
